Being Happy In This Moment
I came across an interesting article in the USA Today last week. The author was breaking down the results of a study by two Harvard researchers. They tracked over 15,000 people and found that 47% of them allow their minds to wander while at work. And that caused people to be unhappy in the moment.
What really got my attention, though, was the biggest cause of the wandering-emotions. People's minds were distracted by things like their frustration with a previous work conversation, or sadness over some event that had recently taken place in their life.
Their research reaffirms the idea of being intentional in the present moment so that you aren't distracted by negative emotions (like regret or failure) in the next moment. Easier said than done, I know, but critical if we are to be achieve better results in our work, relationships and personal endeavors.
